It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Mill Robertson Docherty announces her passing on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 95 after a long battle for 10 years with Alzheimer. She is finally at peace and dancing in heaven with her descendants from Scotland.
Born January 17, 1930, in Leven, Scotland, Anne was the oldest of 5 children born to Richard and Janet (Jesse) Docherty. She learned to work hard by helping her mother raise her sister and 3 brothers and worked with her father baiting and fishing off the coast of Scotland. During the 2nd world war years, food was rationed so to help feed the family and support the mothers who lost their sons during the war fish that she caught was shared within their little community. Supporting her family was very important and any money she earned from small jobs was always given back to help them
Anne was full of life as a young child, she enthusiastically took Hyland Scottish Dancing, and she had unquenchable thirst for reading a good book. Visiting her grandparents who lived nearby and singing in the church choir was a joyful treasured experience.
Anne immigrated with her family to Canada as a teenager and throughout her years lived in La Salle, Toronto, Perth and Ottawa and worked in the hospitality industry and retail with Holt Renfrew. Her excellence in the service industry was consistently exceeding customers expectations. Her ability to build strong relationships and deliver a memorable positive experience was evident in all roles. She trained and developed employees to strive for this excellent customer service and attention to details.
During her retirement she was an active member of many community groups to affectionately give back to the community of Perth Ontario. The Red Hat Society, the Lioness Club of Perth and volunteered with the Perth hospital. She was aunt and great - great aunt to many nieces and nephews and enjoyed dancing and spending time with family. She will be missed by all. Anne was a fierce warrior and lover of life and a proud Scot who cherished all the Scottish traditions.
She is survived by her sister Mamie (Jemma) and brother Richard as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Janet (Jessie) and brothers Tom and Robert.
