Obituary of Rosemary Mackinnon

It is with great sadness that the family of Rosemary MacKinnon (nee Devaney) announce her passing peacefully at home on Thursday August 27, 2020 at the age of 68 after a long illness with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Rosemary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years Ron, children Sarah (Hedde) and John (Valerie). Rosemary was proud of her five grandchildren, Madison, Paige, Annika, Simon and Zoe. Dear sisters Eileen (Dave) and Fran (Lorraine) and nephew Ewen Calder, and numerous other family and friends. Rosemary was predeceased by her parents Terry and Rose Devaney. Rosemary was born in Dundee, Scotland and would often reminisce about family holidays in Scotland. She qualified as an ECG technician and worked at the Royal Infirmary Hospital in Edinburgh. She met the love of her life Ron in Edinburgh and immigrated to Canada to join him in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. They moved to Ottawa and married in 1975. Rosemary was a loving and caring person: she was a caregiver to many young children, all of whom she cherished. She loved to golf and curl with her group of “golfing buddies” and spend summers at Crow Lake fishing. She made many lifelong friends and always enjoyed keeping in touch with everyone especially Skype calls with her sisters. A private funeral mass will be celebrated. Rosemary was fortunate to have a wonderful team of doctors and nurses caring for her and we will be forever grateful to them. In particular we thank Dr. Manorie Edirisinghe, Dr. Michelle McKinnon, her primary nurse Asha and all the members of her care team at Bayshore Home Care Solutions. Thanks also the staff at Medigas for their excellent service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Barrhaven Food Cupboard.
