Obituary of Barbara Bégin (nee Crawford)

It is with much sadness that we share the passing of our much-loved Mom, Grandmom and friend. Barbara Bégin (nee Crawford) passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022, at the age of 89.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Jean-Claude Bégin of 52 years and her grandson Chris. Loving mother to James (Diana), Paul (Nancy), Cathy Nielsen (Chris), Robert (Anna) and Michael (Lynne). She was a proud Grandmom to Angela, Steven (Tracy), Melanie (Chris), Valerie, Eric (Victoria), Robert (Sheila), Jamie (Meghan), Ryan (Katrina), Amanda (Carter), Sarah-Lynne (Kurtis), Kira, and many great-grandchildren. Of her 3 siblings, Barbara is survived by her brother, Thomas Crawford.

The twinkle in her eyes and her kind spirit will be deeply missed by many. She was a world traveller, seeking both adventure and relaxation on her journeys. People chimed into her storytelling, as she brought a wealth of wisdom to each conversation. She loved to say that everything was tickety-boo. Barbara adored games of all kinds right until her last day. Forever a youth at heart, she was a joy to be around.

We are at peace knowing that she is enjoying her favourite treats again, including black licorice and jujubes. Her memory will live on forever with Christmas bingos and the “brown bag game”.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and the Ottawa Paramedic Services for their TLC, as Barbara would say.
