Obituary of Michael Edward Cecile

Michael Cecile of Ottawa, loving husband and best friend of Lise Gauthier for over forty years passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at the May Court Hospice. He was in his 75th year. Father of Matthew (Carol-Anne Lavergne) and loving pepere of Olivier-James. Brother of David, Gatineau, QC. Pre-deceased by parents Wilfred and Gertrude Cecile (Goltz). Brother­ in-law to Jeannette Gordon, Kanata, Anne Gauthier (Kathy Hare), Carlsbad Springs and Robert Gauthier (Irene), Hanmer. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews.

Michael enjoyed spending time at their cottage on L'ile-du-Grand-Calumet, QC. He and Lise purchased a one acre waterfront lot in 1981 and took satisfaction and enjoyment in building, maintaining and improving their four seasons cottage over the years. Boating, kayaking, biking, cross country skiing, hiking, blueberry picking and wild mushroom foraging were some of the activities they enjoyed as the seasons permitted.

They enjoyed guided international travel, visiting 27 countries.

Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, followed by inurnment at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa at a later date.
