Obituary of Winifred Mabel MacIntosh

Winifred Mabel MacIntosh (née Thorne)

1924 – 2022

Sadly, Wynn passed away February 23, 2022, after a brief illness, just short of her 98th birthday.  She was predeceased by her parents Lee Thorne and Josephine Lackie; by her grandchild Melissa; and in 1997 by her husband Roy MacIntosh.  Deeply loved and missed by her children; Dan (Vivien Dzau) and Wendy (Bill Clark); grandchild Jennifer (Scott Hillier); and great grandchildren Kayla MacIntosh and Ronan and Owen Hillier.  She also leaves behind five brothers and sisters, as well as many dear friends.

Wynn was born in New Brunswick as the eldest of 9 children.  She grew up during the Depression, went to business college, and she and Roy met during the war. They were married in 1946 and raised a family living in five different provinces over the course of their careers.

Her last job was at Confederation High School and she kept in touch with the friends she made there over all these years. She travelled extensively in her retirement; was a member of Engineers’ Wives Association; and a long-time member and volunteer at Woodroffe United Church.

Thank you to all of the great people at Redwoods Retirement Residence.
