Meet him once, remember him forever.
tl;dr travel places and meet wonderful people.
Last year my fiancé and I stayed a couple of nights at an AirBnB in Salvage and right across the road from our stay was Rocky’s Ocean Breeze full of “Rocky’s Friends” painted parking spots.
The owner (Rocky Licari) tells us his story of how he came to Newfoundland, saw the rugged beauty of Salvage, and wanted to stay there forever, so he did. Simple as that.
He warned me that early that Sunday morning he was firing up his motorcycle to ride out to meet up and escort a motorcycle club back to his restaurant, and the leading the pack was such an honour. We both teared up just talking about it
I asked to take a picture of the menu so we could order from it ahead of time the next day and to his response “Here take my picture too!”
We promised we come back this year.
We will miss you Rock, and I don’t think there would ever have been enough parking spots for “Rocky’s Friends”
Cheers Rock, we should have had a double.

My grandmother first met Rocky 40 some years ago. He owned a house on rear street in CP. Of course, colorful people were there making tons of noise. My grandmother went over and gave them shit because they were keeping myself and my sisters up. They respected her and called her grandmother after that. No one would know that he became one of the few people I ever loved beyond family. Sorry I cannot be there. Love you always.
