I was so sad to read of Verna's passing in today's Gleaner. Kathryn and Janice, you won't know me but I knew Verna through my grandmother, Effie (Moore) Wilson. They were good friends from their days in Penniac. I think my grandmother was more Donald's age. I met your Mom a few times when she visited Effie on one of her Penniac trips. My grandmother related stories of seeing Don during the war and actually flying in his aircraft one time. I visited Don's grave in Hooton Belgium in 2006 when I was in Europe. What a beautiful cemetery and a lovely small town. I live in the old Moore house in Penniac now, unfortunately I will be visiting family in Ontario at the end of September.so I won't get to meet you.
