I remember meeting Richard in the sixties, a 'cool' guitar playing guy in Old Ottawa South. It made quite impression on me.
Little did I know at the time, years later his sister Margaret would become my sister in law. Also that Richard would marry my ex-wife's friend Cheryl. Over the years we met and enjoyed numerous times for family gatherings.
I've especially remembered Richard's very sincere words to me at my son's funeral.
A GOOD guy, husband and father .
Rest in Peace
Wayne Stanton

Dear Cheryl, Meghan, Jeff and all of Richard’s family: Although very difficult, It is comforting to know that Richard is no longer in pain and now at peace after such a long illness. Richard was fortunate to lead a full life, indulging his favourite activities such as many years of playing tennis (I appreciated the tips he gave me but never managed to beat him), regularly travelling with friends to Hilton Head and Barbados (was so fun showing up & surprising him there one year), listening to his beloved music (especially Roy Orbison & Elvis), playing guitar, fishing, excellent grilling and cocktail-making (both of which I was lucky to frequently experience), enjoying his two beautiful pups Duke and Molly, and most importantly, spending many years with Cheryl by his side and raising their two children. Thankfully, Richard was able to spend quality time with his beautiful grandson, AJ. Hopefully these happy reflections and memories of a well-lived life will help to cope with the loss. Richard will not be forgotten. Love your sister/aunt, Gayle xo

Cheryl and Family, Please accept my sincere condolences. It was my pleasure knowing Richard (aka Roy Orbison). He always had a smile on his face and each time I perform Roy Orbison tunes, Richard always comes to mind. Cheryl and I lit a candle for him while we were away in Greece. Larry (aka Larry6string) & Cheryl Macdonald. God Bless.

Dear Cheryl, Meghan and Jeffrey and McCarthy Family
Brian and I will always miss our dear brother-in-law Richard with whom we shared many fun times during the 51 years that we have known him . Rich was a wonderful host, barbequed the best steaks, and always treated us to "our rums up". Memories of trips to Barbados and Jamaica will always be cherished. Richard loved his "Sherry Baby" and was so proud of his family. We are grateful that his suffering has ended. Richard is now reunited with loved ones who have passed before him, especially his cherished mother Pauline. You will be in our hearts forever.
Love Judy and Brian
