I got to know Emily when she recruited me to the board of the Nepean Horticultural Society. She, with Eleanor Nickerson and Rosi Mikolajeskii, entered flowers, plants and designs at provincial, district and local flower shows, winning many prizes and awards. They were three inspiring women with a wealth of knowledge to share. Emily and I entered the district flower show at City Hall in August so I got to admire her beautiful entries and the prizes she won. She also entered the June and September local shows winning prizes at the NHS AGM on November 17th . Photos of her prizewinning red rose and the awarding of a Life Membership in June were included in the photo retrospective of the year. She was in our hearts at that meeting and will be fondly remembered by her fellow gardeners.

My deepest sympathy to all of Emilie's family. I met Emilie about 9 years ago when I joined the Nepean Horticultural Society. Emilie was one of the first people I met there and she was very warm, kind and welcoming to me and all the others. She had a great breadth of knowledge about flowers and flower arrangements and won many many awards at the flower shows. I learned a lot from her and always appreciated her help. I will miss her as will everyone that knew her.
Sincelely,
Mitzi Ross

As a member of Faith Lutheran Church, I have known Emilie my whole life. When I was young, she was my wonderful Sunday school teacher. Then when I was a teen, I was lucky enough to be her Sunday school assistant. As an adult, I was fortunate to have Emilie babysit my boys a few times. Emilie had the warmest, kindest smile in the world. You could tell that she valued each and every person. Her friendly "hellos" at church will be sorely missed. My mom and I would like to offer our deepest condolences to Emilie's family. Brenda Schoenermarck and Genevieve Firobin
