To the Smith family,
My wife Faye and I were so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. You have our sincerest condolences. For some thirty years, Dave and I have been curling and golfing buddies . Always a nice guy, always fun. We also remember, fondly, the time Dave and Shirley were our tour guides when we last visited Florida. He will be missed.

Our hearts a broken on the passing of our much loved brother in law and Uncle, Dave. He’s been a member of our family for 62 years and his laughter and kindness will be missed for sure. Dave quickly advanced near the top of the pedestal in our Mom’s eyes. And he held her in high esteem too! No doubt she was eagerly awaiting him with open arms on his passing to serve him tea and his favorite cannonball cookies. Dave loved keeping up on what we were doing and especially Nicholas’ hockey and baseball game results. And when Nicholas was young he took many opportunities to teach him many things some good, some mischievous but all with a loving heart. On his visits to Newfoundland he enjoyed visiting different parts of the island, helping out with projects, golfing or just relaxing. On our visits to Ottawa he always made us feel at home and looked forward to enjoying the sweet treats that Shirley would have prepared and hidden until we arrived. Dave had a huge heart with which he fiercely loved his family and especially enjoyed his role as grandfather to Emilee and Bianca.
Shirley, Terry and Dale may the many many memories you shared together be a comfort to you now
Dave, you’ll be forever in our hearts.
Love, Ruby, Lloyd and Nicholas
