Obituary of Maya Sharma

Passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, Maya's beautiful life ended after a brief illness. Maya was born in Punjab, India and moved to USA before immigrating to Canada to her son, Vishal, daughter-in-law Suman and their family in 2017. Wife of the late Om Parkash, with whom she shared a passion for taking care of family and friends in need together. Maya was very social and liked to talk to her relatives and friends, and could stay on the phone for hours. She loved her opera shows and to cook. She knew her way around a sewing machine, milking cows, and many more; she knitted a lot of woolen sweaters and scarfs for everyone she knew. She was like a lighthouse to many in her community and neighbourhood, and had a kind and generous heart. Maya loved to help people in need in any way possible. Most of all, she was proudly devoted to her family and relatives, who as she mentioned, always brought her great joy. Left to mourn with cherished, loving memories are son Vishal Sharma; daughters Anjna Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Rajni Sharma, Anita Kaushik, Vanita Sharma and Jyoti Saini; grandchildren Vanshika, Krish, Neetika, Preetika, Karan, Vikram, Amit, Simran, Harpreet, Shivam, Himanshu, Sourav, Karan, Aaron, Manya; great-grandchildren Ansh, Aahana, Mahi, Maya; as well as extended family in India, Canada, the USA and Australia. She made friends everywhere she went and will be missed by all knowns everywhere she went to (India, Canada, the USA and Australia). Special thanks to doctors at Sandy Hill Clinic and AHH (Maxwell and Carol) for showing Maya such compassion and comfort in her final days.

We invite you to attend the memorial and cremation for Maya and celebrate the profound impact she had on all the relatives and friends. Family will receive friends and loved ones at Cole Funeral Services and Pinecrest Remembrance on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon followed by cremation at 12:00 Noon.
