Obituary of Rose Smith

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rose Lillian Smith (Rankin).  She died peacefully on July 19, 2023 and was surrounded by family in her final days. She was born November 25, 1931 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.  She is survived by her children Gordon, Joanne, Laurie (Richard) and grandchildren Devon, Tyler, Thomas, Owen and Cassie.  She is predeceased in death by her husband Tom and siblings Alex, Lilly, Walter, George and Margaret. 

She married the love of her life in 1951 and moved to Ottawa, Canada soon after and remained here for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting but was most content with a good book and nice cuppa tea.  She was fiercely proud of all her grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by them.

She will be deeply missed and remembered with much love.  A private service will be held in her memory.
