Dear David
I just heard of Jose’s passing and I am so sad. Even though I have not seen you or Jose’s for many years I have thought of you both fondly and remembered many good times from the past. Jose was a wonderful woman you were lucky to have had a good life with her. Mathew and Eric had a wonderful mother who helped shape them into who they are now. I know how hard the last few years must have been for you as I lost my sister to dementia 5 years ago. Please know that I am thinking about you all.
Ingrid Paterson Gluhweiners forever!

Thinking of everyone who was lucky enough to have had this incredible angel of woman touch their lives...To me, she was Aunty Josie. I'll cherish all the memories and special moments between her and I forever. For as long as I can remember, we had an instant connection and a special bond. I imagine that she made many people feel this way...Whenever we were together, it was always as though we'd never been apart. The time together was always quality. From family holidays, to celebrating Christmas's, to shopping together in New York, Montreal, Ottawa, and Whister, we alway's had an absolute blast! It was not enough, but I'm grateful to have shared many meals around a table with Aunty Josie and the family, and I loved all of our private one on one chats after meals at a kitchen sink, over a glass of wine (or two), or just sitting with magazine's in our laps. One particular memory I'll hold close to my heart, is a chat we had the night before my wedding sitting on the deck at my parents home. I'll remember her words, the way she held my hands and the fierce love she had for her family. I'll miss her forever. Rest in peace Aunty Josie.

Josette was responsible for Joe and I growing up when my parents were busy in other things. She was responsible and did a great job. She also raised her two successful sons and did a great job. I believe that if there is a heaven somewhere she is there now.

My Sis!
Growing up at 2200 Cote Vertu with Mum and Dad and Jacques and Josie, I was the youngest, only 9 when Josie went off to St-Marys to start on her path to nursing. I know I missed her a lot and always looked forward to the weekend when she came home. I also remember that at times she was a little sad when we all got into Dad’s car to take her back to residence on Sunday evenings. She was great Sister; she and Jacques both took great care of their little brother but Josie more so, a nurse and mother in training she made sure that all thru the summer I ate a good breakfast and tracked me down wherever I might be in the neighborhood and sat me down to lunch, she was concerned that I was small for my age. (Not such a problem now)
All thru the summer school breaks she would drag me along with her to hang out with her girlfriends, as Mum was at work and I could not stay home alone. Jacques 6 years older had his own things to do, so it was me and Josie. We had wonderful times, riding the bus all over Montreal, going shopping downtown, she took me everywhere. I imagine much the same as Matt and Eric had growing up with her that was a thing with Josie, she made sure no one was left behind.
As I write this I realize how much I will miss her, our Sunday morning chats and the times when we were actually together either in Ottawa or out here in BC and we would manage to sneak away and have our chats and talk about our grown up lives. She hardly ever called me by name, I had remained just “Little Brother” and she remained the same “Sis” all thru her life, always concerned that I was eating right and taking care of myself. She was so much like our mother in that sense always concerned with her family.
One particular time comes to mind when we slipped away on New Year’s Eve in Creston, leaving Eric, then just a toddler in the custody of Sandra’s cousin Debbie. We found her a snowmobile suit and absconded with a bottle of champagne a couple of glasses and my father in law’s snow machine and went up Goat Mountain where we sat and toasted our good fortune under a star studded sky.
My sister was a fierce hugger as all of us will attest, once her arms were wrapped around you might as well go with it because she wasn’t about to let you go until she was good and ready to do so.
She loved her family, but somehow that verb doesn’t seem big enough to describe how she felt about her boys Matt and Eric. I remember Josie telling me that she once stayed on the phone with Eric for an hour or so late at night while he was driving home just to keep him company.
I miss her everyday as I’m sure all of us will, but for me in particular on Sunday mornings when I sit with my first cup of coffee.
Love you Sis.

My deepest condolences to the extended Ellis and Lamoureux families Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Josie, many wonderful tales have been shared by Jenny and I have followed the road they have been on. It's a testament to the love everyone has for her and felt from her that many hands join to embrace all that will miss her dearly.

All the Leveys were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Josie. She had a remarkable gift for the power of presence that was truly extraordinary. Whenever she entered a room, it would instantly light up with her radiant energy and infectious smile. Being around her made you feel like the most important person in the world, as she had a unique way of making you feel cherished and valued. Big Al had a particular love for Josie and he would look forward to her big kisses and warm embrace. He often remarked that every encounter with Josie felt like a special occasion! She had a beautiful way of touching the lives of those around her and leaving a lasting impact. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the cherished memories you shared with Josie and may her loving spirit continue to live on in your hearts.

Josie was a very special and sweet soul - always kind and always classy. She was the first person I met when going to St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Throughout our 3 years of study, she was a loving and helpful friend. She helped me improve my French and often welcomed me in her home. Shortly after our graduation from nursing, we shared an exciting trip to Europe where she was the beauty who attracted all passersby. She was always a compassionate and excellent nurse and a wonderful wife and Mom who was exceptionally proud of her boys. She will forever live on in my heart!
My heartfelt condolences to you, your boys and family. I am so sad for you for your great loss.

So many memories to share, but the earliest one I remember was when Josie came to meet our family on Sabrina. It was a holiday and she had never had pumpkin pie and we all raved about how great Mom's pumpkin pie was, so Josie was excited to try it. After dinner the pie came out and everyone made a big production of Josie trying the first piece. We all watched while she put the first piece in her mouth and in true Josie style she hid all that she was feeling and said it was a very different taste with a huge smile on her face. We all then took a mouthful of our own, and sure enough Mom had forgotten to wear her glasses when baking and used salt instead of sugar. The pie was awful but Josie never let on, it was just one of the sweetest moments showing her grace and respect for our parents. I will forever treasure this and many other memories over the years, Josie my big sister, I will miss you every day!!!

I remember clearly attending Josie and David's wedding in the spectacular Eastern Townships. I am reminded of her beautiful presence and warmth that totally embraced you during many family events over the years. Both of my daughters, Keri-Lyn and Kristi, plus my son-in-law Tim benefitted from her loving support and care while they attended Carleton.. I am immensely grateful for having her in our lives. Sa générosité et sa gentillesse ne seront jamais oubliées. Repose en paix, ma chère.

Josette came into my life when I was ‘wet behind the ears’ in undergrad and landed in my student apartment, shared with three other ruffians, evidently for her and David to stay with me to attend a family reunion in London. I scrambled to find the mop, broom, bleach, and to unearth my bed from the profundity of a month’s worth of clothing in order to host ’the visitors. Josie caught me attending to washroom hygiene as I explained “my mom will not be happy with me hosting royalty with a permanently embedded ring around the bathtub”. Memorably, this is how I met this epic Beauty, literally on my knees. Her retort: “I’ll never forget this kindness”. Turns out it is the indelible memory of her kindness, and her beauty, her poise, her goodness, her enormous warmth, her infectious insistence on a hug—is that which no one will forget. Her song from us at David and Josie’s wedding— America’s Sister Golden Hair— becomes our loving requiem to Our Beloved Sister.
