Obituary of Peter Tinsley

Peter was born in Enfield, England on December 11, 1938 and died on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in Kanata, Ontario.  He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband to Judy (Carriere) for 47 years.  Peter leaves behind his beloved daughter Christine, his stepson David Renaud (Manon Rivet) and his two granddaughters, Sophie Renaud (Chris Fournier) and Tanya Renaud (Dave Cheung).  Peter is survived by his four siblings who are living in Suffolk, England; Maureen, Margaret (Victor), Michael (Doreen) and David.

Pete had many friends, old and new.  He was a kind, loving, funny, knowledgeable, thoughtful and genuine man.  He would never give up on things that were dear to him.  Pete’s pastimes included woodworking and he created beautiful dressers, benches and two horses.  He loved watching sports (especially the NFL) while cheering with a pint of beer in his hand.  His smile, laugh and, of course, his British accent will be forever missed.

Peter graduated from Enfield College in Electrical Engineering.  He worked as an Aircraft Guidance System Test Engineer at Elliott Brothers London before immigrating to Canada in 1967.  His business experience includes IBM Canada and Bell Northern Research.  Peter loved his time at Mitel where he was the Director of Product Documentation and Course Development.

For several years, Peter and Judy were active members of the Friendship Force Ottawa and hosted many guests from all over the world.  During their retirement, Peter and Judy travelled to many countries including Australia, Thailand, Italy, Russia, Spain and Portugal.
