I only stumbled came across Les' obituary by happenstance this past week.
My wife and I moved from Ottawa two years ago and, I confess, I have rather lost touch with Valley news.
Cecilia, Gerrard and Joseph were neighbours of mine in Pembroke when I was growing up. They and their parents were all really good and kind people. I couldn't believe - reading Les' death announcement - that Cecilia was already in heaven.
And then there was Les.
Our families both attended Our Lady of Lourdes parish for many years.
Les was behind me in high school but I knew him quite well.
I'm certain the only reason that Les didn't have official leprechaun status was because he failed the height requirement - he was too tall.
Even as a teenager, Les was kind and gentle to all.
What a lad! The twinkle in his eye, the flaming red hair and the smile that could melt a heart of stone!
Belatedly, I extend my deepest sympathy to Les' family.
The Lord broke the mold when he made Les Poupore.
May he dance forever with Cecilia in heaven in the Lord's presence and in eternal sunshine.
William L. (Billy) Neville

We were so shocked and heartbroken to hear Les had passed away. He was such a special, thoughtful man. He will be missed by so many. Les was always so generous, kind and attentive to all his family and friends. So many things happen in life that don't make sense. We hope you can find support and peace in these difficult times. He is reunited with his beautiful wife Cecilia. We will always treasure the amazing times and memories we shared with him. Our deepest sympathy. LISE and Neil.

My heart is heavy with your great loss. My deepest condolences to all.
I was very lucky to be a very small part of Les & Cecilia’s lives here in Calabogie for about close to 20 years. What started as a working relationship turned into beautiful friendships, that I will cherish.
Les was so very proud of his children and his grandsons. He couldn’t wait to show pictures and tell stories when we would catch up. He was always so thoughtful and interested in what was happening in my family’s lives as well.
I’m so glad I was chosen to be a part of their Calabogie journey. I loved them both.
Rest easy my dear friend.
Michelle

Such sad news. My condolences. Les was the happiest, most positive person I knew. He was like part of my family. Always interested in what me and my boys were up to. Will miss our haircut days and “work in progress” beard trims. He was always showing me the latest pictures of his grandsons. He was so proud of you all. Happy to have known him. Lisa Clouthier

Les was a giant in terms of his family devotion, loved you all very much, and will be missed dearly.
We will too- our big brother - his arms always opened wide to a visit and keeping his ear to the ground for anything we might have missed in the news out here in BC or for the latest in his search for our ideal camper van or next trip. The e-mail waves have gotten eerily quiet. The antics of the gorgeous orioles, full moons, rainbows and sunsets over Lake Calabogie no longer recorded and shared.
Sending a big hug your way now and we will be with you September 8th and 9th to communally send Lester B on his way to join his beloved Cecilia to watch over us, and leave us all to feel forever blessed to have had him in our lives.
Lots of love

Les. He was just so thoughtful. The postcards the Beaus Beer. The phone calls. Visits to his mom. When you visited Calabogie it was like a 5 star restaurant. Dinner with The Cranes Sunday night. Time with Lois and family. But we know he missed Cecilia every day. Love you all. Praying for you during this sad time. What a life! Gone too soon.
