Shri Uttam Chand Nagpal's remarkable journey began in the village of Sikundrabad and the bustling city of New Delhi, India. Born as the youngest of five brothers, he later found his way to the serene landscapes of Annapolis Royal and beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. This chapter of his life was filled with strong friendships and a deep sense of community. As an immigrant, he faced challenges head-on and celebrated every triumph, embodying the spirit of those seeking new horizons. Everyone fortunate enough to know him treasured his companionship.

In 2007, the call of family drew him to Ottawa, where he could be closer to his children and grandchildren. His life story serves as an inspiring lesson about the power of dedication, hard work, and the unyielding love of family. Our father’s legacy also emphasizes the beauty of retaining one's cultural roots while integrating into a new homeland. His deep love for family and the enduring friendships he built are the cornerstone of memories left behind.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Shakuntala; his children, Sandeep (Madhu), Sudhir (Diane), and Seema (Rajeev); seven cherished grandchildren - Asha, Meera, Priya, Leeya, Vishal, Jaina, and Naya; along with affectionate nieces and nephews in India and the United States.

A Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that contributions be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation in honor of Uttam Nagpal’s memory.
