Obituary of Maria Rosa Nichele (Zadra)

It is with much sadness that the family of Maria Rosa Nichele (nee Zadra) announces her passing on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2023, in Ottawa.  A devoted wife of 53 years to Marco Rino Nichele. Loving mother to Patrick, Monica (Ram Mathilakath), and Mark (Anna Paravan). A wonderfully dedicated nonna to Olivia and Marco-- the source of her biggest pride and joy. Dear sister of Renata Zadra and Ines Ravanelli of Cis (Trento), Italy, where Maria was born and grew up before marrying and immigrating to Canada in 1970. She will be hugely missed by many friends and family in both Canada and Italy, including the extended Nichele family of Rosa’ (Vicenza) Italy, the Zadra and Gasperetti families in Trento, Ottawa, and Vancouver, as well as the Paravan family in Ottawa.  Maria was especially close to her cousin and “Canadian sister”, Emma Zadra, and also held a special place in her heart for niece Anna Merzi, both of whom greatly mourn her loss. We would like to thank the dedicated staff at Carlingview Manor in Ottawa (6^th floor team of nurse Kim, and support staff My, Emmanuel, and Stephanie, in particular) for helping us to take such good care of our mom over the past year and a half, as well as the compassion shown in her final days by the team at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Maria Ali. A Memorial Service followed by internment and reception will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Rd., Ottawa, ON, K2C 3H9, with option to attend virtually.  Maria was a gracious and kind person who never failed to extend herself to anyone in need. She also believed in the comforting power of a good meal, especially during the holidays. If desired, donations in her memory to The Shepherds Of Good Hope Ottawa, The Alzheimers Society of Canada, or a charity of your choosing would be appreciated.
