Obituary of Garry Bregg

BREGG, Garry “Bud” – Peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the tender age of 92 years.

 

Predeceased by his parents Maxwell and Louilla, née Crawford, and by his brothers John and Don and by his sister Beryl.

 

Bud’s full life included his marriage to the love of his life Margaret “Peggy”, née McConville, mother of the late Michael (Nancy), Sharon Tkach (Bill), Garth “Mack” (Kathy), Timothy and the late Holly (Frank Buda).

 

After Peggy’s death Bud was blessed to share many years of marriage with the late June (née O'Connell).

 

Loving grandfather of Kendall (John Lewis), Ryan (Sherri), Benjamin Buda and Cassandra Buda (Dustin).

 

Cherished great-grandfather of Abby and Isaac Lewis, Anthony and Ethan Buda and Lily Bregg.

 

Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.

 

Bud will be remembered by many for his kindness and generosity (he loved to tip – 20% was for rookies), his fishing and card playing prowess and his pride in his family.  We cannot forget his thirst for reading and he could be seen in later years with a book in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other.

 

Bud’s career included being a proud serving member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1951 to 1976 and the Canadian International Development Agency from 1977 until retirement at age 55.

 

Respecting Bud’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Inurnment will be held in a private family celebration of life.  

 

A special thank you to the dedicated caregivers at the Perley Veteran’s Health Centre who put up with his shenanigans.

 

Another bright light has gone out.
