Ara and family, My deepest sympathies to you all at this moment. Truly sorry to hear about the passing of your father. It is nice reading his obituary and learning about all that he accomplished and contributed to. It is clear that parts of him definitely live on in his children, which I can see with Ara's love of travel and even his smile. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Digine Stepanian, dear Salpie, Raffi, and Ara, my heartfelt condolences to you on the loss of your husband and father. Baron Stepanian was a great Armenian--both a stalwart and life force of the Armenian Community of Ottawa, keeping alive a love of language and culture, and a proud Canadian too. Dear Herminé, Please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences for your family's loss. I arrived in Ottawa to complete my 3rd year of Mechanical engineering at the University of Ottawa in 1972. It did not take me long to meet Taniel, who was then a member of the facilities group of the U of O. If you knew Taniel you will not be surprised that one of the first thing he suggested we jointly organize “Vassen Groneetz yev Hyerenyatx” was a lecture at the University to observe of the Vartanantz War. In later years our cooperation continued as members of the Armenian Cultural Association of Ottawa executives to serve the community. For centuries, Armenians have set aside the Feast of Vartanantz Day to honor their heroic ancestors and pay tribute to their memory. However today I join the Armenian Community of Ottawa to honor a dear friend whose service to our community and whose spirit of kindness will never be forgotten 'til we meet again, my friend. I remember my childhood being surrounded by the Stepanian family. Our families attended many outings together. I especially enjoyed going for picnics. Hermine and family, I have very fond memories of Daniel. I know his memory will be eternal.
