Obituary of Kaatje Currie

Kaatje Hubrina Currie (nee deVlieger)

January 26th, 1929 - May 6th, 2024

Kaatje passed away peacefully at Carleton Lodge at the age of 95. Kaatje was a strong, kind, and generous woman, who was devout in her faith. She shared her warm love with her husband, Kenneth Currie, her daughter, Karen Currie, and her two grandchildren, Lucas and Benjamin Church, along with all other members of her family and the community. She is survived by her brother Dan deVlieger(Barbara) and nieces and nephews whom she cherished. 

Kaatje was born to a family of nine in Zierikzee, Zeeland in the Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada in 1953, where she started a family and a new, fulfilling life. She worked in several hospitals as a nurse as she moved frequently with Ken who was in the Canadian Forces. Her memory was honoured in a private service at Pinecrest Remembrance Cemetery.  For those wishing to do so, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
