Obituary of Muriel Jean “Mickie” Penney (nee Pergley / Pergoli)

Born in Montreal on August 15, 1940 to Bert and Mabel Pergley (Pergoli).  Sadly left us in the company of her dedicated care team and family on August 15, 2024, her 84^th birthday.

Devoted wife to the late Jack (October 2022) for 59 years.  Loving mom to Karen (Brian Gadde) and Brent (Tanya).  Extremely proud Nonna to Taylor John Gadde (Evelyn Nelson) and Chelsea Ilene Wilson (Jordan Wilson).  Mom was excited to become a great-nonna to Jack Wilson in August 2023. Also fondly remembered by the extended Tremblay and Penney families.

Mom loved nothing more than long walks on the beaches of Ogunquit Maine and Florida, “happy hour”,  dancing, Abba songs and fun with friends.  Most of all, she adored her family and when we were all together.

Our family wishes to thank the dedicated care team at the General Hospital Thoracic Unit who battled tirelessly with mom over the past 9 years.

Most recently mom was supported by the amazing staff at St. Vincent Hospital, 4 north, especially Dr. Michele Raymond who went above and beyond  plus nurses Tom, Gracie, Suzanne and Ana.  We are so grateful.

We would also like to say thank you to her dear friend Jane for her many visits, they sure meant a lot to mom.

Our mom was a force to be reckoned with. She faced her health challenges with resilience, strength, courage and grace.  She was our “dancing Queen”.  May you rest easy mom and cheers to you !

Please join our family for a Celebration of Life for Mickie and Jack on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Remembrance Services.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Vincent Hospital or The Ottawa Heart Institute in Mom and Dad’s name would be appreciated by the family.
