Obituary of Michael Robert Anderson
In Loving Memory of Mike Anderson It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Michael (Mike) Robert Anderson, who left us on December 22nd 2024 at the age of 62.
Mike passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in the early morning hours of December 22nd, spending his final weeks surrounded by those he loved most dearly. Born on June 14th, originally from Greely Ontario, Mike grew up with a courageous spirit, curiosity, resilience, and a generosity that defined his life.
Dad was the proud and devoted father of Morgan and Matthew, and loving step-father to Logan. His unwavering love and support helped shape us into who we are today. His wisdom, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. He is predeceased by his beloved Mom (Shirley Caillier) and Father (James Anderson). Survived by his sister, and a very large extended family of cousins who shared many joyful memories together. He also leaves behind a large circle of friends who he cherished dearly.
Mike spent the majority of his career with Hydro Ottawa, a job he took great pride in. Beginning as a lineman and transitioning to supervisor roles and retiring just three years ago as an Overhead Line Coordinator.
Known for his kind and generous spirit, Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues, friends, and neighbours. He was an avid sports enthusiast, passionate about hockey, golf, and racing. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage and boating on the water, and was a talented water skier and barefooter. When not on the water, he could often be found enjoying time on his ATV, mowing the lawn, or soaking up the sun on summer weekends. In the winter you could find him on the snowmobile trail or at the rink cheering on his kids who he was so very proud of. His love for music, especially country and 80s rock, were the soundtrack of the garage and hockey road trips with his kids. His unique sense of humour, wisdom in life lessons from his many stories, which he loved to share amongst his children and friends, made him unforgettable to everyone he met.
While we are heartbroken by his passing, we find comfort in our many cherished memories and knowing he is at peace, reunited with his parents, many friends, and his dog (Winston) who he loved so deeply.
A celebration of life will be held on December 28th at 1-4pm at Cole Funeral Services at Highland Park Cemetery on McGee Side Rd in Carp. In lieu of flowers his children request donations be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation. Dad, we love you more than words can say.
We will always hold you in our hearts.
With Love,
Morgan and Matthew, and Logan.
