Obituary of Angus Cameron Macdonell

Angus Cameron Macdonell, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 14th, 2025, after a battle with cancer.  True to his penchant for always being surrounded by loved ones, he spent his last weeks in the presence of beloved family and friends.

He was born to James Macdonell and Grace Macdonell (née MacDonald) in Glen Nevis, Ontario on May 16th, 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his two sisters; Eleanor and Mildred (Wayne). He spent his childhood growing up on a farm in Glen Nevis; an experience that filled him with pride.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda, of 42 years. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They had 4 children: Sean, Kimberley (Charlie), Kristy (Angela) and Meghan (Ryan).  Angus is also leaving behind his two beloved grandchildren, Jaxon Orley and Avery Logan.

Angus was the most kind, gentle, curious, and funny man who made an impact on everyone he met. Whether he was sharing a joke, talking about music, or recounting a memorable run-in with a celebrity from his work at the Canadian Tire Centre (which he loved to talk about), he always had a way of connecting and making people smile.

A man of remarkable determination, Angus fought cancer with incredible courage and strength. Throughout his battle, he rarely complained, always choosing to remain hopeful and positive. His perseverance and optimism were a source of inspiration to those around him. He faced his challenges with the same unwavering spirit that defined his entire life—always focused on the things that mattered most: his family and the joy of living.

Angus adored his family and friends, and while we would have loved many more years with him, his love, humor, and unshakable positivity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Angus will be laid to rest with his wife, Linda at Pinecrest Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited to honour his life at during a visitation Monday, January 20th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and a Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 21st  at 10:00 a.m. Both visitation and Funeral Service will be held in Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road.

In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that donations be sent to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada.
