Obituary of Richard Carter
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richard Carter on Monday, December 9th, 2024. Surrounded by love, he passed away peacefully and is now at rest.
Despite facing numerous health challenges, he approached each one with unwavering determination and a heart full of love for his family. His strength and kindness will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew him.
Richard’s memory will be cherished and honored always. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and will continue to guide and support us from above.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Stephanie and Caitlin Carter (their mother Marjorie Sampson) and his precious grandchildren, Austin and Quinn. Richard is survived by his sister Leslie Koenig (John), with nephew Joey (Carrie) great nephews Joshua and Ben; sister Laura Mezaros (Steve), with niece Mandy Thibodeau (Brad) great niece Abigail and nephew Scott; and brother Mark (Diane), with nephews Andrew and Colin. He will also be fondly remembered by his dear friend Ann McLean. He was predeceased by his brother Dean and parents Arnold and Jean (Marrs).
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and the team at WEV for their compassionate care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made in Richard’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart Institute or the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Foundation.
A private family service will be held in the spring to honour his life.
