Obituary of Brian Daniel McKernan

At home, peacefully, surrounded by the love and strength of his family, our father passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the age of 92.

Brian leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years Theresa (Terry) McKernan and his five children; Colleen (Randy Burgess), Noreen (Paul LeJeune), Kelly (Garry Brownrigg), Michael (Sandra Daniel) and Karen (Geoff Grainger).

Brian was a devoted grandfather to his ten grandchildren: Katie, Bridget (Brett), Michael (Andrea), Kelsey, Evan (Steph), Patrick, Madison (Malcolm), Jenna, Jessica, Brian, and two great-grandchildren Cash and Emmie. Proud uncle of Dan, Lisa and Rob Mason and their late sister Moya.

Dad will be missed by his Irish cousins, Ed (Pat) McKernan of Toronto and Pat (Mary) McKernan of Chicago, and his many cousins in Ireland.

Predeceased by his parents Grace and Dan, his sister Mary and brother Maurice.

A special thank you to Drs. Spacek, Dion, Gobessi, Girvan and the nurses with Carefor. Your compassion and care will never be forgotten.

Thank you to Father Connor O’Hara from Holy Redeemer Parish for coming to the house to minister to our dad. It brought him peace in his final days.

Our dad loved a rainy day, a glass of Pinot Grigio, and reading the newspaper -- hard copy only. But his greatest joy was sitting at the dinner table surrounded by family.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Brian's life at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5-7 pm with words of tribute at 5:30 p.m. Private Funeral Mass and Burial.
